Gorewada nature trail – a RCNV environment initiative*
It was a pleasant Sunday morning on 24th January-21 for a walk through ‘Gorewada Nature’s Trail’. Rotarians and their families were full of energy early in the morning and were hoping they may confront at least a Nilgai(blue bull) on their way but all they could find were it’s droppings.
The forest guard ,Mr. Bhalvai was a knowledgeable chap with all scientific names of birds ‘properly’ known to him. He familiarized us with all the residential and visiting birds, their habits and characteristic features . However most of us only remember the 3 famous ones – Sharukh Khan, Vakil and T Engineer. The guide also told us about various trees and their usage. The ‘khair tree’ whose bark is used for making katha and its process of making was an interesting piece of information given to us. One more takeaway from this walk was the fresh air our lungs received for an hour .
At the end of the walk all hungry and tired walkers were greeted to the smell of hot coffee and tea, juice and water for those who were parched and a box of delicious snacks.
The meeting was attended by a large number of members, spouses and children. President Jatin Sampat gathered all the members for a group photograph and thanked the organizers for the successful event.
