Sickle cell association Nagpur, in collaboration with the Indian Journal of Paediatrics, conducted a Sickle Cell Disease screening and awareness camp at Tejaswini Vidyalaya Koradi on January 19 for junior and senior college marriageable youth. A total of 234 students were screened.13 turned out to be positive in the screening test. Their venous blood samples were collected for confirmation. Junior and senior college staff were made aware of sickle cell disease. Its impact on health and how to give these patients a good quality of life. Parents of adolescents who turned out to be positive would be counseled on Saturday, January 21. Madam Roshankhede and Vinita Shukul of RCNV worked hard for the success of this camp.
