RCNV has adopted a deaf and dumb residential school at Saoner, near Nagpur which has about 100 children studying from 1st to 10th standard. This school is self-sustained with the aid of various organizations. Children here are taught basic education as also life skills. They have properly equipped workshops where skills like tailoring, bag making, stationery making, etc are taught with the intent of helping these challenged children earn a decent livelihood in the hope of assimilating into regular society.
- Deaf & Dumb Residential School at Saoner (30 km from Nagpur) is a residential school for 105 differently abled girls & boys and Rotary Club of Nagpur Vision has been closely associated with them by way of giving scholarships to all students clearing Class X, providing blankets, CCTV system Television and tree plantation.
- This year, our club initiated Vocational Training for the present & past students of this school and also the teachers. Lady members &Rt.Anns. of our club continue to train and upgrade them to stitch cloth bags and also paper bags for commercial sale. These bags are much in demand now after the ban on plastic.
- Paper is being provided to the school free of cost by one of our members owning a paper manufacturing mill.
- This school for the differently abled children is now selling the bags commercially and 50% of the profit goes to the participating past & present students and 50% to the school.
