- Having started with Rs 10,000 each to 10 underprivileged women from villages around Nagpur last year under our Micro Credit project, this year we gave Rs 10,000 each to 25 such women with an EMI of Rs 1,000 per month over 10 months, to purchase sewing machines.
- All the beneficiary ladies were taught stitching cloth bags and dresses by our own Rotarians and Rt.Anns to enable them to earn an independent living.
- Repayment of the Micro Credit has been cent percent every month with no delays and no bad debts. This goes to prove that the beneficiary women have started earning money and are also able to repay the loan every month.
- Vocational Training to more than 130 women inmates of 2 different Protection & Remand Homes was imparted over 5 sessions each by our lady Rotarians and Rt. Anns. in stitching of cloth bags, preparation of paper bags and gift bags which are much in demand now after ban on plastic bags.
- Similarly, students and teachers of the Deaf & Dumb Residential School, Saoner were also taught preparation of paper bags and gift bags over 6 sessions. This school has now started manufacturing paper bags commercially from the paper donated by one of our Rotarians. Paper bags are sold at a profit which is shared 50/50 by the school and the handicapped students.
- Nursing staff of Snehaanchal Palliative Care Centre was trained in conversing English by our Rotarians &spouses as they regularly go through advance training & refresher courses in Bangalore which is in English.
